Rumour: SNK releasing a new Neo Geo for your pocket

Don't call it the Neo Geo Pocket 2

It's not really a followup to the Neo Geo Pocket, but it is a portable device with a bunch of Neo Geo games on it. Currently known only as "Neo Geo Portable Device" (not the product's final name), the handheld is a bit bigger than an iPhone and comes packing two gigs of storage, plenty of buttons, a 4.3 inch screen, SD card slot, headphone jack and an A/V out jack, according to Japanese site Famicom Plaza.

And, thanks to official SNK licensing, it comes pre-loaded with 20 Neo Geo titles — North American versions, no less — including classics like Metal Slug, Fatal Fury Special, Sengoku, King of the Monsters, Magician Lord and more. Famicom Plaza provided no details as to when or where the device will be released.

That's assuming the product is real at all, of course. The select button above is labeled "menu" in a different picture, for example, which seems a bit odd. We've contacted SNK to confirm the device's existence.

Rumour: Apple to redesign MacBook Air – could it get smaller?

Apple is to hold an event today dubbed Back to the Mac, where they are expected to announce a new version of its operating system, Mac OS. However, rumours going around tech circles today have speculated this may not be the only thing announced. Apparently, whisperings have been heard lately that Apple are planning to refresh the MacBook Air, Apple’s lightest portable computer.

What’s more, only hours ago, an unnamed source claimed to have a prototype of the new Air in his hands, and the rumour has become a lot more specific, with the source listing quite detailed specifications for the upcoming mac laptop.

There’s no word on the graphics or storage in the new Air, but it should have a significantly smaller 11.6-inch display, a 2.13/2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 gigabytes of memory, two USB ports, a Mini DisplayPort, an SD card reader, and no optical drive.

Although the general rule in the Tech world is that almost every rumour will turn out to be true if there is reason to believe it, I’m going to remain neutral and class this merely as a rumour until someone confirms it for definite. However, I will say that the listed specifications do sound pretty convincing, although I have my doubts as to whether a smaller form factor would actually be beneficial to the laptop. But I’m not an Apple fan, so what do I know?
